Chapter 5:

Us ladies like us men messy don’t we? Leanne said to Carla, messy,messy,messy she repeated. Leanne? I can’t help but think you’re trying to tell me something? Carla said sitting up. Oh nothing Leanne said, just had a few too many of these. Top up? She said to Carla, ohh no tar Carla said, fine more for me! Leanne poured her glass up to the top. Carla was watching every drop pour out the bottle one by one. So how did it go last night? Carla asked trying to take her mind of things. Leanne’s eyes started to fill, and her throat got blocked. Leanne? ..Nick.. Leanne whispered. I don’t unders- Carla stopped. You didn’t? Oh Leanne! Leanne burst into tears. Carla sat up and hugged Leanne till she stopped crying. I couldn’t fight the temptation Carla, he kept telling me how great I was and how he would never chuck me away again. I felt so lost. Carla sat up and sighed. Oh Leanne, Leaa Leanne. The lock undid on the door. Hiya love Peter said walking in. Hi Leanne said wiping her cheeks. Oh hi Carla, Peter said eyes wide open,  Carla smiled, I better go she said. Oh yer ermm thanks for coming over, we should do this again sometime. Yer Carla said. They hugged and Carla whispered into Leanne’s ear “ Times a healer, I’m here for you” Leanne smiled and showed her to the door, when she had walked out Peter asked why she was here. Oh just a chat, haven’t spoke in a while. Well! I think you have had one too many! Peter lifted Leanne up and carried her to the bed, and plonked her down, She laughed, then cried. I love you she said. I love you too,  peter replied. They wrapped up in the covers and fell asleep in each other’s arms. Smiles across their faces.

December the 3^rd now, 20 days have passed. Leanne feeling guilty as ever, Nick heart-broken, Carla curious and peter madly in love with the girl of his dreams. It was only 5 days till the wedding now and everyday Peters eyes lit up with excitement. Leanne’s not so much. Leanne and Nicks affair ended a couple of days ago after Ken “caught” Leanne and Nick. Leanne devastated ended it with Nick. “ I love you” was the only thing Leanne ever saw coming from Nicks mouth. Leanne swore that it was over and wouldn’t happen ever again, and that she loved Peter and Simon. Ken new this and took in to account that Peter wouldn’t be here right now if it wasn’t for Leanne, and promised not to tell him. Leanne happy and relieved can put that mistake behind her and begin to enjoy life with her real family. Peter and Simon.

Carla walked into the bar. Leanne hadn’t spoke to her for a while after Carla had a 12 month ban for drink driving, and the girls at the factory had been taking the mick out of her. So Michelle had to run the factory because she was too embarrassed to come into work. Just an orange juice Leanne, Coming up Leanne said haven’t spoke in a while Carla. Yer well you know how it is. Nick walked past Leanne, she moved out the way quickly. Oooh?! Whats going between you to then. Nick walked off with a bottle of brandy in his hands. Leanne scratched her head. You haven’t again have you? Oh Leanne! Not just again Carla. Ken caught us. Leanne said her eyes filling with tears. Carla’s frown turned into a smirk. Carla wanted to push Leanne towards Nick, so she could have Peter. But it’s over, for good, Leanne said pouring a glass of red.

Leanne walked into the flat and plonked her bag and jacket on the chair, Iya Love! Peter sat up and  looked at her. His eyes gleaming. Give me a hug. Leanne said falling into his arms. Peter kissed her on the forehead. I love you Leanne said looking up at him. I love you too love, we will show that on Tuesday wont we? Leanne smiled and pushed her face into his chest. She gripped her arms around her tightly, and wouldn’t let go.

Leanne walked into the bookies in her Prada silver dress, her long blonde extensions and her tall high heeled black shoes. You look beautiful, Peter said dropping his pen and walking towards her. Yer well, its my hen night, I’m suppose to Leanne joked. He smiled and hugged her. I love you he said. Leanne gulped, I know you do she said trying not to cry.
Come in Come in! Julie said pushing Leanne into the rovers, and placing a sachet and horns saying hen do on round her waist and head. Leanne fell onto a chair and Julie brought over her regular, a large glass of dry white wine. Leanne could not believe she was going ahead with this after the affair. After she betrayed Peter.

Peter walked into the Joinery for his stag do. Kieran and Ashley greeting him at the door. Straight away an orange juice was given to him. All the lads were laughing and messing around. All except Nick, who was sitting in the office with a large glass of brandy. Taking the occasional sip. Then he suddenly jumped up ran out the door and through the bar and ran across the road. Nick? Kieran called.

 Another round please Tina, Leanne asked. Nick walked through the door and stood next to Leanne, Nick leave me alone, I can’t be seen with you, Come round the back then, I need to talk to you. Nick pleaded. I’ve got nothing to say,  Leanne said still waiting for the drinks. Please. Nick cried. Ok! You go out now, I will see you out there. Leanne brought the drinks over and said she was popping to the loo. She walked outside were nick was standing, What do you want Nick, they’re going to wonder where I am. Marry me, you don’t love Peter, don’t marry him. Nick I’m marrying Peter. Leanne was wondering why he couldn’t understand this. Right... Nick said and walked back into the bar. And then back to the joinery. Leanne walked back into the bar and took a large swig of her wine.

Back at the joinery, Chris was winding Lloyd up about Cheryl, Ken walked in, Oh hiya dad, peter greeted him, trust you to walk in when things are spicing up. Nick went into his office then came back out. Peter? He asked. Leanne’s on the phone, she wants to talk to you. About what Peter asked? Errmm. I don’t no she didn’t say, but its urgent. Huuh.. Ok Peter said. Peter and Nick walked into the office. Ken realised what was going on and ran into the rovers. Oh sorry didn’t see you there? Chris joked. Oh yer well you didn’t see this! Lloyd punched Chris in the nose, and sooner than you think there was a fight. Leanne, ken rushed into the rovers, what’s up? Leanne said. I think nicks going to tell peter. What?! Leanne and ken ran out the bar and started to walk towards the joinery.

So Leanne isn’t on the phone? Peter said to Nick, Er.. No nick replied then what do you want Peter said.

Ken and Leanne were walking towards the joinery.

Peter and Nick still arguing.

Chris and Lloyd still fighting.

Suddenly Ken and Leanne were thrown back by a strong blast. They were out for a few seconds then they were able to stand up. The joinery had exploded, GET BACK KEN SHOUTED everyone started to walk backwards. The viaduct had collapsed and the tram was about to come off the track. The tram headed towards the corner-shop and crashed. The tram swung round and crashed into the cabin. “Peters in there Ken” shouted. Leanne was devastated. People screaming and shouting. the street had changed forever.
